Biography

Larry Madowo is a Kenyan CNN international correspondent and host of the African Voices Changemakers and Playmakers series.

He was born and raised in various parts of Kenya. Madowo attended Usingo and Karapul primary schools and later went on to join St Gabriels Seminary for Secondary education. His intended career to pursue was as a Catholic Priest but had a change of heart after completing his secondary education and went on to college to study broadcast journalism.

Before joining CNN he was a North America Correspondent for the BBC including anchoring Breaking News and presenting BBC World News America from Washington, DC. He began his career in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi being a trainee reporter for KTN and later went on to secure a position at NTV Kenya as a Business anchor.

Larry briefly anchored business and financial news at CNBC Africa before making a return to NTV but later resigned on March 2018 to join the BBC. He hosted The Larry Madowo show on Nation FM from 2014 until late June 2016. In his home country Kenya he is best known for hosting the trend a popular Friday night show.
